Service Description

Have you ever noticed that great improvisers make it look easy being on stage? Great performers tend to play from a relaxed state, not a nervous one. Similarly, relaxed people tend to be better at improvising their lives. Being able to say "yes and" to life goes hand in hand with a deep sense of relaxation. In this workshop, you'll learn how to use improv to help regulate your nervous system AND you'll learn how to use your knowledge of the nervous system to improve your improv game. First, you'll learn about the polyvagal theory of the nervous system, then, you'll practice some improv games and other techniques that help you regulate your nervous system, and finally, you'll apply those techniques to improv scenes to witness the magic of the best-kept secret of symbiotic relationships: a well regulated nervous system and amazing improv! Your instructor for this class, Emily Iannuzzelli, is an improv enthusiast as well as an Ayurvedic wellness coach. Emily first became interested in the overlap between good improv and a well-regulated nervous system back in 2018 when she first started improv as a total basket case! She noticed her ADHD symptoms improving through regular practice of improv (as well as other healing modalities) and has been totally fascinated since. She's also calmed down a bit! Schedule: 4 x Saturdays 5/24/25 through 6/14/25 (There will be no class showcase) Time: 2:00-4:30pm
